Being a foodie means your love for food pushes you to explore new places, local breweries, and most likely you are willing to try anything.
As a part of the Foodie Tribe I was invited to the media dinner of a new restaurant in Coral Gables called 320 Gastrolounge. This restaurant is located at the Shops at Merrick Park, which is very convenient for shopping and dining.
For starters I had the Carne Croquettes (I mean if you are in Florida croquettes have to be part of your menu), hand breaded and seared, stuffed with tender beef and olive aioli. It was good and the outside crust had the perfect crunch.
Above one of my favorites of the night Homestead Short Ribs - all-day braised bone-in beef rib with stone-ground manchego grits (OMG), and blistered tomatoes. To be honest I had 2 of these because why not, the ribs were so tender and the Manchego grits had me in foodie heaven. This is a must try when visiting 320 Gastrolounge.
Up next the Gastro Sliders - mini-patties grilled on a brioche bun with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and a hint of bbq aioli. These were absolute perfection, even though it has basic ingredients the patty was so flavorful and the melted cheese!! I may or may not be biased since I love burgers :)
Also tried 2 of their cocktails, first and favorite was the Moscow Mule - Finlandia vodka mixed with house made ginger syrup, a touch of citrus and charged with soda water. This drink was bomb, ginger just gives that extra wow factor to the drink.
The second drink I tried was Village by the Bay - Zacapa rum shaken with falernum reduction, lime juice and finished off with Jamaican bitters. This was too strong for me but everyone on my table seemed to really like it. So if you like strong drinks this would be your go to.
Just an FYI they have happy hour Monday - Friday from 4 -8pm so if I were you I would definitely take advantage of this.
And to finish off this great experience they brought their signature dessert American Dream I have to say this is one of the best skillet desserts I've ever had. This dessert is a skillet brownie with cookie dough and oreos topped with popcorn ice cream and a salted caramel sauce MIC DROP!!! I could go to 320 Gastrolounge just for dessert and I will be a happy person.
Overall it was a great experience, they had a live band which lighted up the entire audience. Led by Bryant Del Toro, a local artist which happens to be the unborn child of Bruno Mars and John Mayer in my opinion. He is very talented and I believe he will be performing soon at 320 Gastrolounge so make sure you follow them on Instagram @320Gastrolounge for more info.
